Sebastian E. Proels, M.D., J.D.
Sebastian E. Proels, M.D., J.D. is the managing partner of the law firm and brings over twenty-five years of combined experience in the physical sciences, medicine, and the law. He is tenacious, unrelenting, and effective. Dr. Proels has successfully prosecuted and defended thousands of toxic tort, medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, intentional tort, and workers’ compensation cases. He has substantial, deep experience in preparing and taking various types of civil cases to trial, including all aspects of discovery, motion practice, and general trial preparation. He has deposed hundreds of lay and expert witnesses, with particular emphasis on deposing and examining medical and scientific experts in discovery proceedings and at trial, including cardiothoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, industrial hygienists, B-readers, treating physicians and other experts. His medical and scientific background provides indispensable insight into case assessment, case strategy and success at trial.
Dr. Proels graduated from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1999 with Honors, and was a recipient of the Max Gustin Academic Scholarship as well as the Hergenroeder Trial Tactics Award. He passed the Ohio Bar in the highest percentiles and was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio in 1999, being a member in good standing since that time. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1994 and completed all requirements for permanent licensure to practice medicine in the State of Illinois. Since graduating from law school, Dr. Proels has become a devoted Ohio litigation lawyer, dedicating 100% of his professional time to the practice of trial law. Over the course of the last few years, alone, Sebastian Proels has secured millions in compensation for injured parties and litigation clients in and outside of Ohio in both state and federal court.
Before founding Proels & Proels LLC, he worked in the Litigation Group of one of the nation’s largest law firms, successfully prosecuting and defending thousands of civil cases. This experience, i.e., working in a large firm environment, provides him with key strategic insights into large firm and big client motivations, tactics, and conflict resolution algorithms. As a result of Sebastian Proels’ extensive litigation and trial experience, he has developed a strong commitment to his clients and a legal focus that consistently makes the best interests of the client and exceptional legal results the firm’s number one priority. In this regard, Dr. Proels has proven time and time again his dedication to clients and ability to work constructively with the courts and opposing counsel for the purpose of achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Dr. Proels has diverse teaching experience, including the presentation of continuing legal education seminars for professional groups, including lawyers and paralegals, on a variety of legal and medical subject matters. He has published numerous articles and chapters in professional journals, trade journals and university textbooks. He is an avid cyclist, skier, and internal combustion vehicle aficionado.

Allayne W. Proels, is a partner at the law firm of Proels & Proels LLC, with a legal practice that focuses on personal injury litigation, tort litigation, and corporate and commercial law and litigation. She has been a member in good standing of the Ohio Bar since 1996, with over 25 years of legal experience in cutting-edge and high profile legal positions. For instance, prior to joining Proels & Proels LLC, Ms. Proels served as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary for The Scotts Miracle Gro-Company (NYSE: SMG) where she acted as in-house counsel for both the North American and International business units and provided a broad range of legal services including contract drafting and negotiations, litigation management, advertising support, regulatory assistance, merger and acquisitions support and ultimately served as the Company’s in-house securities counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary to the Company’s Board of Directors. Prior to The Scotts Miracle Gro-Company, she served as in-house counsel for Dairy Mart Convenience Stores, Inc. and National Auto Credit where she had considerable experience managing real estate, bankruptcy, environmental, trademark and information technology legal matters. Allayne Proels received her undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University and her J.D. from Western New England School of Law. She served as the Secretary for the Orange School system’s 501(c)(3), The Orange Music Patronaires, for six years and has held multiple leadership positions in Business Networking International, including President and Vice-President.
